Barefoot at Havelock is an eco-retreat set in rainforest and tropical fruit trees behind a pristine 2-km stretch of beach. The island is about 2 hours from the capital Port Blair by direct sailing, and the resort is located 11 km from the pier on the village road that takes you past paddy fields, banana plantations and thick tropical forest.

Set in 7 acres of pesticide and fertilizer free grounds, the resort consists of 18 beautifully designed wood and thatch cottages and villas with spacious interiors and en suite bathrooms that have been constructed using indigenous materials. Continental and Indian food is served; all ingredients are organically grown, and the seafood is day’s fresh catch. There is a lounge bar with finest collection of jazz and lounge music. There are ayurvedic therapists to provide a variety of treatments.
Activities and Excursions :
There are breathtaking beaches and the waters offer a fascinating world of marine life and corals. All these can be explored through snorkelling and scuba diving, dunghi fishing and kayaking.

Escorted nature walks can be organised through the forest where one can spot the endemic birds, butterflies, small mammals and sometimes reptiles.
How To Get There :
Port Blair is connected by regular flights to Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. From Port Blair, Havelock Island is a 1 ½ hour sailing by the speed catamaran and about 2 ½ hours by the regular ferries. From the Havelock pier, Barefoot is a 30-minute drive.

Ships are available on schedule from Chennai, Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam, but this journey is only for those who love sailing and have no time-constraint, reason being the 3-day journey can be monotonous and the ships have minimal facilities.
